Nutritious: Body Out Of Control Three + SF Tour Dates

Our good friend Nutritious of SpinSpinNYC and Apt Entertainment has released his third mix in the "Body Out Of Control" series (below) in anticipation of his upcoming San Francisco tour dates!  Since this is the third in the series, we listened to this mix three times, and it had us moving with each go-round.  Nutritious manages to touch on a wide range of house sounds, from jacking to jazzy to soulful to afro to electro, all while keeping a consistent groove, proving once again why we like this guy so much!  If your in the SF area we recommend that you get yourself to one of these appearances this weekend:

New Mix: Tyler Schmith – Hotflash 2 Sunrise Set

Tyler Schmith - Hotflash 2 Sunrise Set (House)
Recorded: August 6th, 2011 - Direct Download (MP3)

It seems like music has gotten so serious lately. I love the deep stuff. I love the dark stuff. I've got a mean bass-face, but sometimes musics gotta make you smile!

I was asked to play a sunrise set in Baltimore recently at Soul-Mob Production's Hotflash 2 event at the legendary Paradox nightclub. I played out in the courtyard as the sun was rising, and took it as an opportunity to dig into my back catalog a bit and pull some straight smile-evoking feel good house music from yesterday and today. This is a later recording of the set, modified a bit to include some additional tracks that I didn't get a chance to play. Enjoy!

Here comes The Gumball

The guys from ForQuarters introduce the first in a series of events they are calling 'The Gumball", with support from Gourmetbeats, EightyEightyDC, and SoulMob Productions.  Starting on a very strong foot, their first installment will feature Lazy Days Recordings label boss and legendary DJ, Fred Everything.

We saw Fred Everything for the first time at the 2005 Winter Music Conference in Miami where he performed an unforgettable set at the now-defunct venue Bash.  It was one of those nights where the stars aligned, everyone was in attendance, and every shoe was on the dance floor; where you looked around and saw some of the best DJ's and producers in the industry, and they were all dancing like crazy.  We've been huge fans ever since, and expect that the combination of Fred and ForQuarters will result in a tremendous night.

Get a taste of the ForQuarters boys tonight in DC for their new monthly at Eighteenth Street Lounge.

Baltimore's ForQuarters collective - DJ's J Mack and Jason Joseph - appeared at the monthly Push party this past weekend at Jimmy Valentines Lonely Hearts Club in Washington, DC. Don't miss them this week for Forward Fest, making a special appearance with The Sol Power Allstars at Eighteenth Street Lounge.

Forward Fest is a "5-day celebration of electronic creative culture" thrown in the nation's capital by event agency Eighty Eight DC.  This year's festival runs from March 30th to April 3rd, and features such artists as Cut Copy, Aligning Minds, Art Department, and our very own Joe Nice performing a special set with NYC's Dave Q this Friday at The Sweet Spot.

Maceo Plex: Life Index LP

The folks over at Crosstown Rebels will be releasing their twelfth full-length album at the end of the month, this time featuring American ex-pat house producer Maceo Plex. Crosstown prides itself on featuring "creative young people with something new to say", and with the one Damian Lazarus at the helm, seems to release a consistent stream of great music.

If Maceo's single "Vibe Your Love" is any indication, this album should be no exception. Pick it up at record stores January 31st.
